Sounds like a fun game! But……my family (and relatives) enjoy playing games AFTER Thanksgiving lunch, just for entertainment. I am usually the game coordinator person, so thanks for the game tip! Will definitely try at Thanksgiving and maybe Christmas with something besides candy bars!

You forgot important thing, many german people also don’t know any more: waiting for the Right moment. no gingerbread or stollen before 1. december, no chrstmas tree before 24. 12. Real german gingerbread dough Must lay at a Cold place at least 1 better 4 weeks. Waiting makes your feelings much more intensive. And the other very important Christmas virtue: restrict yourselfe. Some small lights in one window are much more „hyggelig“ than allover flashing houses. One day baking or crafting with your children can make more fun than Running all december for expensive gifts ( which no one likes at the end and everyone Runs to change After Holiday). And don’t forget to Go to church in the Late evening of 24.12. It’s the Birthday of Jesus- Not a cola- sponsored Shopping Event. I wish you a blessed, joy spreading christmas!

Hi Claire! Great question.

The slips are all mixed together in one bowl, so Team A is not guessing only Team A’s words or only Team B’s. Everyone writes their prompts, then all the slips are folded and tossed into the same bowl. On your turn, you simply draw whatever slip comes up.

And yes – you’ve got the turn order right! Susie draws a slip, her team guesses as many as they can within 1 minute, setting each correctly guessed slip aside before drawing the next. When time is up (or if she accidentally says part of the answer), Team B takes their 1-minute turn. Teams keep alternating until the bowl is empty.

At the end of Round 1, all of the slips go back into the bowl for Round 2, and then back into the bowl again for Round 3. The fun is that you’re playing with the same set of prompts each round, but the rules get more challenging-first you can describe them, then you only get one word, and finally you have to act them out. Since everyone has already seen or heard the prompts in earlier rounds, it becomes a hilarious game of memory, quick thinking, and inside jokes. That’s what makes Fish Bowl such a popular party game!

Does team A guess Team A’s list that each player jotted down, or Team B’s? So, Susie pulls a slip and gets her team to guess. As soon as they do, she grabs another and gets them to guess. This goes on until the minute runs out or she slips up and accidentally says the word. At the end of Susie’s round, the other team goes for a minute before it goes back to Susie’s team. Do I have that right?
